Crest syndrome

Systemic sclerosis (scleroderma) is a debilitating connective tissue disease. The limited cutaneous form of scleroderma is also known as CREST syndrome.

C= Calcinosis (whereby calcified nodules are deposited in the soft tissues)
R = Raynaud’s (pallor-cyanosis-rubor of the hands in response to low temperatures or stress)
E = Esophageal dysmotility (due to ineffective parastalsis and decreased sphincter pressure)
S = Sclerodactyly (thickening of digits)
T = Telangiectasias
